AUCKLAND 7th DAY BAPTIST CHURCH

Statement of Belief

Seventh Day Baptists consider liberty of thought, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, to be essential to Christian belief and practice.   2 Cor 3: 17 Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. We therefore encourage the unhindered study and open discussion of Scripture, and uphold the individual's freedom of conscience in seeking to understand and obey the will of GOD. Romans 12: 2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what the will of GOD is, that which is good, acceptable and perfect. It is for this reason that we have no binding creed. We hold, however, that certain beliefs and practices, having the support of Scripture, and adhered to by the followers of Christ through the centuries, are binding upon all. Eph 4: 3-6,15 Being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace, there is one body, one Spirit, just as also you were called in one hope of your calling, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one GOD and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all, but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him, who is the head, even Christ JESUS our Lord. With this conviction in mind, we present the following statement, derived from our understanding of the Bible, as an expression of our common belief. 2 Tim 2: 15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to GOD as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, handling accurately the word of truth.

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. Psalm 119:105

GOD and Father

We believe in God, the Supreme Being; Creator, and Sovereign of the universe, Infinite, Eternal Perfect. Our Heavenly Father who manifests a Holy redeeming love towards all mankind, forgiving the repentant, condemning the unrepentant; and who desires to share His love in a personal relationship with everyone.

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.....Genesis 1: 1-2

The Lord, the Lord God, compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in loving kindness and truth; who keeps loving kindness for thousands, who forgives iniquity, transgression and sin; yet He will by no means leave the guilty unpunished.....Exodus 34: 6-7

Will God indeed dwell on earth, Behold heaven and highest heaven cannot contain Thee.....I Kings 8: 27

Thou did give birth to the whole earth even from everlasting to everlasting, Thou art God.....Psalm 90: 1

God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth......John 4: 24

The God who made the world and all things in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands; neither is He served by human hands, as though He needed anything, since He Himself gives to all life and breath an all things; and He made from one, every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined their appointed times, and the boundaries of their habitation, that they should seek God, if perhaps they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us, for in Him we live, move and have our existence, for we also are His offspring.....Acts 17: 24-28

There is but one God, the Father, from whom are all things, and we exist for Him; and one Lord Jesus Christ through whom are all things, and we exist through Him.......I Corinthian 8: 6

Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God be honour and glory forever.....I Timothy 1: 17

God is light, and in Him there is no darkness at all.....I John 1: 5

our Lord JESUS CHRIST

We believe in Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God manifest in the flesh, Our Saviour, Teacher and Guide who gave Himself on the Cross as a complete and final sacrifice for sin, and draws to Himself all who will come to Him in love and trustful obedience. As our risen Lord, He is the one Mediator between us and the Father.

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God the Father did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world should be saved through Him.....John 3: 16-17

And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.....John 1: 14

Jesus said “I am the way, the truth and life, no one comes to the Father, but through Me.....John 14: 6

concerning His Son, who was born of the seed of David according to the flesh, who was declared with power to be the Son of God by the resurrection from the dead, according to the Spirit of holiness, Jesus Christ our Lord, through whom we have received grace and apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith among the Gentiles, for His names sake; among whom you are also the called of Jesus Christ.....Romans 1: 3-5

But now Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who are asleep.....I Corinthian 15:20

But when the fullness of time came, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law, in order that He might redeem those who were under the Law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit.....Galatians 4: 4-6

I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe. These are in accordance with the working of the strength of His might, which He brought about in Christ. When He raised Him from the dead, and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and every name that is named not only in this age, but also in the one to come. And He put all things in subjection under His feet, and gave Him as head over all the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.....Ephesians 1: 18-23

for there is one God, and one mediator also between God and man, the man Jesus Christ, who gave Himself a ransom for all, the testimony borne at the proper time.....I Timothy 2: 5-6

And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power. When He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.....Hebrews 1: 3

By this will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all, He having offered one sacrifice for all time sat down at the right hand of God.....Hebrews 10: 10,12

and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by His wounds you were healed.....I Peter 2: 24

If anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world.....I John 2: 1-2

The HOLY SPIRIT

We believe in the Holy Spirit, God dwelling within; the Inspirer of Scripture, the Comforter, active in the hearts and minds and lives of mankind; who convicts of sin, gives spiritual rebirth, instructs in righteousness, and empowers for witnessing and service.

And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever, that is the Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive because it does not know Him or behold Him, but you know Him because He abides with you and will be in you.....John 14: 16-17

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, who the Father will send in name, He will teach you all things, and bring to remembrance all that I said to you.....John 14: 26

but I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper shall not come to you, but if I go, I will send Him to you. And He, when He comes, will convict the world concerning sin, and righteousness, and judgement; concerning sin, because they do not believe in Me; and concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father, and you no longer behold Me, and concerning judgement, because the ruler of this world has been judged. But when He, the Spirit of Truth comes, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak and He will disclose to you what is to come. He shall glorify Me; for He shall take of Mine, and shall disclose it to you.....John 16: 7-14

but you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you.....Acts 1: 8

and hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts, through the Holy Spirit who was given us.....Romans 5: 5

Therefore I make known to you that no-one speaking by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus is accursed”; and no one can say “ Jesus is Lord ” except by the Holy Spirit, now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit, but to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit, and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually just as He wills.....I Corinthian 12: 3,4,7,11

but know first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation, for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit.....2 Peter 1: 20-21

The Bible

We believe that the Bible is the inspired record of God's will for mankind- the Word of God, of which Jesus Christ the supreme Interpreter, and that it is our final authority in matters of faith and practice.

Thy word is a lamp to my feet, and a light unto my path.....Psalm 119:105

Many other signs therefore Jesus performed in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book, but these have been written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.....John 20:30-31

They were entrusted with the oracles of God.....Romans 3: 2

So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.....Romans 10: 17

All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness.....2 Timothy 3: 16

God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world.....Hebrews 1: 1-2

for the word of God living and active and sharper than any two edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.....Hebrews 4: 12

But know this first of all, that no prophecy of scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation, for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit.....2 Peter 1: 20-21

as also in his letters, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which the untaught and unstable distort, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures, to their own destruction.....2 Peter 1: 16

Man

We believe that mankind was created in the image of God, and is therefore the noblest work of creation. We also believe that human beings have moral responsibility, and are created to enjoy both Divine and human fellowship as children of God.

Then God said Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth. And God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created them; male and female He created them.....Genesis 1: 26-27

when I consider Thy heavens, the work of Thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which Thou hast ordained; what is man that Thou dost take thought of him, and the son of man, that Thou dost care for him. Yet Thou hast made him a little lower than God, and dost crown him with glory and majesty. Thou dost make him to rule over the works of Thy hands; Thou hast put all things under his feet.....Psalms 8: 3-6

He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you, but to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God.....Micah 6: 8

Love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you, in order that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven; for He causes /his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. For if you love those who love you, what reward have you, do not even the tax gatherers do the same. Therefore you are to be perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect.......Matthew 5: 44-48

Sin, Atonement and Salvation

We believe that sin is the transgression of the law - disobedience to God, and failure to live according to His will. All who refuse to repent of their sins and receive Christ as their Saviour will be punished at the time of the final judgement. We also believe that salvation from sin and death is the gift of God by redeeming love, accomplished by Christ’s death and resurrection, and is received only by repentance and faith in Him.

But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hid His face from you, so that He does not hear.....Isaiah 59: 2

Behold, all souls are Mine; the soul of the father as well as the soul of the son is Mine. The soul that sins will die.....Ezekiel 18: 4

The person who sins will die. The son will not bear the punishment for the father’s iniquity nor will the father bear the punishment for the son’s iniquity; the righteousness of the righteous will be upon himself, the wickedness of the wicked will be upon himself. But if the wicked man turns from all his sins which he has committed and observes all My statutes and practices justice and righteousness, he shall surely live, he shall not die. All his transgressions which he has committed will not be remembered against him, because of his righteousness which he has practiced, he will live. “Do I have any pleasure in the death of the wicked” declares the Lord God, “rather than he should turn from his ways and live......Ezekiel 18: 23

But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name.....John 1: 12

The Father loves the Son, and has given all things into His hand, He who believes in the Son has eternal; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.....John 3: 35-36

the righteousness of God has been manifested, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all those who believe, for there is no distinction, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Jesus.....Romans 3: 21-24

but God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved form the wrath of God through Him, for while we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son.....Romans 5: 8-9

for the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus.....Romans 6: 23

In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace which He has lavished upon us. In all wisdom and insight He made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His kind intention which He purposed in Him.....Ephesians 2: 7-9

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.....1 Peter 1: 3

If we say we have no sin, we are deceiving ourselves and the truth is not in us, if we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.....1 John 1: 8-10

and if anyone’s name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.....Revelation 20: 11-15

The Ten Commandments

We believe that the Ten Commandments are ten divine precepts - applications of the eternal and universal principle of love; established by God, and given to mankind at creation, written by His 'finger' at Mt. Sinai, and magnified by Jesus Christ, and shown by Him to be the moral code for all mankind.

Then the Lord saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth and that every intent, of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually and the Lord was sorry that He made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. And the Lord said “ I will blot out man whom I have created from the face of the land, from man to animals to creeping things and to birds of the sky; for I am sorry that I have made them”. But Noah found favour in the eyes of the Lord, for Noah was a righteous man, blameless in his time; Noah walked with God.....Genesis 6: 5-9

if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be My own possession among all the peoples, for all the earth is Mine; and you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.....Exodus 19: 4-5

Then God spake all these words, saying…..Exodus 20: 1-17

And the tablets were God’s work, and the writing was God’s writing engraved on the tablets.....Exodus 32: 16

You should diligently keep the commandments of the Lord your God, and His testimonies and His statutes which He has commanded you. And you shall do what is right and good in the sight of the Lord, that it may be well with you and that you may go in and possess the good land which the Lord swore to give you.....Deuteronomy 6: 17-18

Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish, but to fulfil. For truly I say unto you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass from the Law until all is accomplished, whoever then annuls one of the least of these commandments, and so teaches others shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever keeps and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.....Matthew 5: 17-19

Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may obtain eternal life, and He said “Why are you asking Me what is good? There is only One who is good; but if you wish to enter into life, keep the commandments”.....Matthew 19: 16-17

Teacher, which is the great commandment of the Law, and He said to him “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind; this is the great and foremost commandment. And the second is like it, you shall love your neighbour as yourself. On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets”.....Matthew 22: 36-39

If however, you are fulfilling the royal law, according to Scripture you shall love your neighbour as yourself, you are doing well. But if you show partiality, you are committing sin and are convicted by the law as transgressors.....James 2: 8-10

Here is the perseverance of the saints who keep the commandments of God and their faith in Jesus.....Revelation 14: 12

The Church

We believe that the church of God is all redeemed believers gathered together by the Holy Spirit and joined into one body, of which Christ is the Head. We also believe that the local church is a community of believers organised in covenant relationship for worship, fellowship and service, practising and proclaiming common convictions, while growing in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. We believe in the priesthood of all believers and practise the autonomy of the local congregation, as we seek to work in association with others for more effective witness.

For where two or three are gathered together in My name, there I am in their midst.....Matthew 18: 20

and they were continually devoting themselves to the apostles teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer, and everyone kept feeling a sense of awe; and many wonders and signs were taking place through the apostles. And all those who had believed were together, and had all things in common, and they began selling their property and possessions and were sharing them with all, as anyone might have need. And day by day continuing with one mind in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they were taking their meals together with gladness and sincerity of heart, praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord was adding to their number day by day those who were being saved.....Acts 2: 42-47

Be on guard for yourselves and for all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which he purchased with His own blood......Acts 20: 28

for just as we have many members in one body, and all the members do not have the same function; so we, who are many are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.....Romans 12: 4-5

Now may the God who gives perseverance and encouragement grant you to be of the same mind with one and another according to Christ Jesus, that with one accord you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Wherefore accept one another, just as Christ also accepted us to the glory of God......Romans 15: 5-7

For by one Spirit we were all baptised into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all amde to drink of one Spirit, for the body is not one member, but many.....1 Corinthian 12: 13-14

Now you are Christ’s body and individually members of it.....1 Corinthian 12: 27

So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and are of God’s household, having been built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the corner stone; in whom the whole building, being fitted together is growing into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you also are being built together into a dwelling place of God in the Holy Spirit......Ephesians 2: 19-22

And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ. As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves, and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by the craftiness in deceitful scheming, but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him, who is the head, even Christ; from whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by that which every joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building of itself in love......Ephesians 4: 11-16

He is also head of the body, the church; and He is the beginning, the first born from the dead; so that He Himself might come to have first place in everything.....Colossians 1: 18

and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the day drawing near......Hebrews 10: 24-25

and coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected by men, but choice and precious in the sight of God, you also as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house for a holy preisthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.....I Peter 2: 4-5

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvellous light; for you were not a people, but now you are the people of God, you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy......1 Peter 2: 9-10

Baptism

We believe the baptism of believers, by immersion, is a command of Christ, being a witness to, and the consummation of one's acceptance of Him as Saviour and Lord, and is a symbol of death to sin, and rebirth to a new life in Jesus.

But Jesus answering said to him, “Permit it at this time; for in this way it is fitting for us all to fulfil righteousness” Then he permitted Him. And after being baptised, Jesus went up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove upon Him.....Matthew 3: 15-16

And Peter said to them, “Repent, and let of you be baptised in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.....Acts 2: 38

Or do you not know that all of us who have been baptised into Christ Jesus have been baptised into His death. Therefore ye have been buried with Him through baptism into death, in order that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life. For if we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall be also in the likeness of His resurrection, knowing this that our old self was crucified with Him that our body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin, for he who has died is freed from sin.....Romans 6: 3-7

For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For all of you who were baptised into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ......Galatians 3: 26-27

having been buried with Him in baptism, you were also raised up with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead.....Colossians 2: 12

and corresponding to that, baptism now saves you, not the removal of dirt from the flesh, but an appeal to God, for a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ......I Peter 3: 21

The Sabbath

We believe that the Sabbath of the Bible, the seventh day of the week is sacred time, a gift of God, instituted at creation, affirmed in the Ten Commandments, and re-affirmed by Jesus Christ and the Apostles. We also believe that, in loving response to God's grace toward us, as revealed in Christ, the Sabbath should be faithfully observed as a day of rest and worship, and that it is a reminder of God's presence in time- His pledge of eternal rest in the paradise of God.

And on the seventh day God completed His which He had done; and rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.....Genesis 2: 2-3

Then the  Lord said to Moses, How long do you refuse to keep My commandments and My instructions. See the Lord has given you the Sabbath, therefore He gives you bread for two days on the sixth day. Remain every man in his place; let no man go out of his place on the seventh day.....Exodus 20:8-11 : Remember the Sabbath day to keep it Holy, six days you shall labour and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of the Lord your God.....Exodus 16: 28-29

if because of the Sabbath, you turn your foot from doing your own pleasure on My Holy day, and call the Sabbath a delight, the Holy day of the Lord honourable, and shall honour it, detesting from your own ways, from seeking your own pleasure, and speaking your own word. Then you will take delight in the Lord, and I will make you ride on the heights of the earth; and I will feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father, for the mouth of the Lord has spoken it......Isaiah 58: 13-14

and He was saying to them “ the Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath, consequently the Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath......Mark 2: 27-28

If you love Me, you will keep My commandments......John 14: 15

Brethren; sons of Abraham’s family and those among you who fear God, to us the word of this salvation is sent out. For those who live in Jerusalem, and their rulers, recognising neither Him nor the utterances of the prophets which are read every Sabbath, fulfilled these by condemning Him.....Acts 13: 26-27

And he was reasoning in the synagogue every Sabbath and trying to persuade Jews and Greeks.....Acts 18: 4

There remains therefore a Sabbath rest for the people of God, for the one who has entered into His rest has himself, also rested from his works, as God did from His. Let us therefore be diligent to enter into that rest, lest anyone fall through following the same example of disobedience......Hebrews 4: 9-11

Evangelism

We believe that the church's chief aim is as Jesus commissioned us: to proclaim the Gospel of Salvation and of the Kingdom: making disciples, baptising and teaching them to observe all that He has commanded: witnessing to our faith throughout the world and to every person.

Sing to the Lord, bless His name; Proclaim good tidings of His salvation from day to day. Tell of His glory among the nations, His wonderful deeds among all the peoples......Psalm 96: 2-3

And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world for a witness to all the nations, and then the end shall come......Matthew 24: 14

And Jesus came up and spoke to them saying “ All authority has been given Me in heaven and on earth, Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age”......Matthew 28: 18-20

but you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.....Acts 1: 8

Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ, and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation, therefore we are ambassadors for Christ......2 Corinthian 5: 18-20

The Lord's Supper

We believe that the Lord's Supper commemorates the suffering and death of our Redeemer until He comes, and that it is a symbol of our union with Christ, and a pledge of renewed allegiance to our risen Lord.

And while they were eating, Jesus took some bread, and after a blessing, He broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said “Take, eat; this is My body” and He took a cup and gave thanks, and gave it to them and they all drank from it. And He said to them “This is My blood of the covenant, which is to be shed on behalf of many......Mark 14: 22-24

Is not the cup of blessing which we bless a sharing in the blood of Christ, Is not the bread which we break a sharing in the body of Christ. Since there is one bread, we who are many are one body; for we all partake of the one bread.....I Corinthian 10: 16-17

For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus in the night in which He was betrayed took bread; and when He had given thanks, He broke it, and said “This is My body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of Me” In the same way He took the cup also after supper saying “ This is the cup of the new covenant in My blood; do this, as often as you drink it in remembrance of Me” For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes. Therefore whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner shall be guilty of the body and the blood of the Lord. But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup. For he who eats and drinks, eats and drinks judgement to himself, if he does not judge the body rightly, for this reason many among you are weak and sick and a number sleep......1 Corinthian 11: 23-30

Eternal Life

We believe that eternal life, being conditional, is available to us only through our Saviour Jesus Christ, and is granted on one's acceptance of salvation in Him who, having conquered death, will gather together, not only those who have died righteous, but also the living righteous, and will bestow upon them immortality in glorified bodies, at His return in heavenly power and glory.

But when the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then He will sit on His glorious throne. And all the nations will be gathered before Him; and He will separate them from one and another, as the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats, and He will put the sheep on His right and the goats on His left. Then the King will say to those on His right, “Come, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world”......Matthew 25: 31-34

And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes may in Him have eternal life......John 3: 14-15

For this is the will of My Father, for everyone who beholds the Son, and believes in Him, may have eternal life; and I Myself will raise him up on the last day......John 6: 40

My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; and I give eternal life to them, and they shall never perish, and no-one shall snatch them out of My hand......John 10: 27-28

Let not your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Fathers house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would not have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you......John 14: 1-3

These things Jesus spoke and lifting up His eyes to heaven He said “Father, the hour has come; glorify Thy Son, that the Son may glorify Thee, even as Thou gave Him authority over all mankind, that to all whom Thou hast given Him, He may give eternal life, and this is eternal life, that they may know Thee, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom Thou hast sent......John 17: 1-3

But now Christ has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who are asleep, for since by a man came death, by a man also came the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all shall be made alive.....I Corinthian 15: 20-22

But we do not want you to be uniformed brethren about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve, as do the rest who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus. For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, and remain until the coming of the Lord, shall not precede those who have fallen asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet of God; and the dead in Christ shall rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one and another with these words......I Thessalonians 4: 13-18

For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all men, instructing us to deny all ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously and godly in this present age, looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of God and Saviour, Christ Jesus; who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself a people for His own possession, zealous for good works. These things speak and exhort and reprove with all authority. Let no-one disregard you....Titus 2: 11-15

And the witness is this; that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has the life, he who does not have the Son of God, does not have life. These I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, in order that you may know that you have eternal life......I John 5: 11-13
